Water Aerobics

Unfortunately, there are not a lot of pictures to document my new found activity.  A few weeks ago, my roommate Stephanie and I decided to try out the Logan Aquatics Center, as they offer adult lap swimming time late each evening.  We then discovered that they also offer water aerobics classes.

Ever since that first night, we have been hooked!  I will drag everyone and anyone there, (well anyone who will let me) because I love it.

I definitely like the workout aspect of it.  It's nice to have a class to go to, with someone telling you what to do, and to shout for you to keep going.  I have definitely been getting sore arms (since I have no arm muscles at all).

It's been really fun as well to go with my roommates.  It's turned into a nightly activity.  At 9:30, we get in the car and drive over to the pool.  It's a pretty humorous activity, and it's really brought us closer, which has been a lot of fun.

But probably the best part of this has been getting back in the pool.  I spent 6 summers working at the pool. And for many years before that, I remember finishing off each summer night going to the pool with my family.  (Seriously, we would go every single night.  I think our neighbors thought we were crazy.)  I just have always loved the pool, and being in the water.  Ahhh, it's just delightful--the perfect way to end the day.

We always forget to take pictures...
but when Shelbie and I had matching swimsuits,
we found the perfect occasion!

The water aerobics crew!  Stephanie, me, visiting Shelbie, and Alexis!

Straws and Sushi

I need to remember...whenever I need some excitement in my life, this is the girl to call!

She made a whole list of activities sure to lead to a night of fun.  One of the activities was to go to Dollar Tree...which will clearly always lead to something good.

Crazy Straws?  These take the cake for sure.

The next step in the evening was, of course, sushi.

YUM.

I don't know why Sam and I don't hang out more...clearly we've been having a great time ever since we met.  But I love that ever time we do hang out, it's always a great time, and it's like we never stopped hanging out. She's one of the best friends I've made at Utah State, and I love her!

Still Fun

I haven't been super good about blogging lately, obviously, because I know that no one cares about my Kinder Morgan LBO project, and that's about the extent of what I've posted lately.  At the beginning of the semester, I was just so excited to be back up at school, hanging out with all of my friends, doing fun roommate activities, and just enjoying being back up at USU.

I'm still doing all of that great stuff (as well as lots of studying and homework, because that has definitely picked up over the semester), but I'm just not appreciating it or recognizing it as much.  Also...I'm just not taking as many pictures, and pictures obviously make everything seem so much cooler.

Anyways, we have been up to some fun, both photographically documented and not.  Here are some highlights of the weekend.

>Paying tribute to No-Shave-November...we attended the Lumberjack Party - there were mustaches, flapjacks, and a whole lot of plaid.
>Game Night.  Always a pleasure.

>Watched Lexi come up with creative ways to save her art project.  I'm pretty sure she doesn't read my blog...so probably don't tell her these pictures are on the internet.  (For reals though, this was a great piece of artwork.  I'm already looking forward to next fall so she can try it again.)

>We did manage to spend a solid three hours at the library working on homework and studying.  It was quite productive.

>But before we made it up to the library...we took our frequent trip down to Gossners.  This might be a slight exaggeration, but probably a quarter of the amount I spend on groceries...I spend on cheese.  Alexis and I might have a problem.  (One might determine this when we go through one of these in less than a week...but whatever, cheese makes everything better.)

>Aggie Basketball.  It was a pretty good game.  We had a nice time.

>Alexis's friend let us come to his apartment where they are harboring a yorkie-poo (a poodle yorkie!) puppy.  Oh. My. Gosh.  It was so cute, and I was in heaven.  I wish I had a picture of this one.

>On Sunday, Alexis and I made cauliflower pancakes.  Not to be confused with pancakes you with syrup... While Lex was disappointed with these, I was thrilled.  They are so dang good!  A current favorite for sure.

Weekends are good stuff.  This one was pretty relaxed, which is nice.  It was good to hang out with friends, eat some good food (of course!), and just enjoy life.

San Antonio

Sometimes I decide it's a good idea to be more involved and take a more active approach in trying to figure out what to do with my life.  So I joined the Financial Planning Association.  Ever since high school when I took financial literacy class, I have been super interested in money...like having it obviously, but also like managing it!  That's what led to me accounting, which I also love, and now financial planning.

I've recently decided to add on one more semester of school so I can add on a minor in financial planning.  Anyways, enough about my life plan that changes day by day, let's get down to the exciting stuff.

This weekend, I'm in the beautiful city of San Antonio working as a student volunteer for the FPA Conference.

Okay, can I just say that I am obsessed with San Antonio?

We're staying in downtown San Antonio, which is lovely.  The river walk is lined with cute, fun restaurants, the architecture is unique and nice, and the river is obviously a great feature.

Brightyn and I by the river walk in our nice business clothes.
Eating lunch at one of the fabulous restaurants.

Our "Crappy Coladas" at the Texas Tech student social.  Yum!
Okay, so let me just paint you a picture of the hotel we're staying at.  It's called the Menger, located right across the street from the Alamo.  It is HUGE.  Or at least seems that way, we still haven't found the quickest way to get up to our room, we just wander through hallways until we find it.  It's super old, and they have display cases filled with old things and black and white pictures in the lobby, where there's always old jazzy music playing.  Oh, and let's not forget that the Menger Hotel (according to wikipedia) is the most haunted hotel in Texas.  Which I'm sure everyone could guess is my favorite feature (not...)  Oh, my actual most favorite feature is the bed...I don't think I have ever slept so well in my life.

Anyways, it's been lovely.
