Water Aerobics

Unfortunately, there are not a lot of pictures to document my new found activity.  A few weeks ago, my roommate Stephanie and I decided to try out the Logan Aquatics Center, as they offer adult lap swimming time late each evening.  We then discovered that they also offer water aerobics classes.

Ever since that first night, we have been hooked!  I will drag everyone and anyone there, (well anyone who will let me) because I love it.

I definitely like the workout aspect of it.  It's nice to have a class to go to, with someone telling you what to do, and to shout for you to keep going.  I have definitely been getting sore arms (since I have no arm muscles at all).

It's been really fun as well to go with my roommates.  It's turned into a nightly activity.  At 9:30, we get in the car and drive over to the pool.  It's a pretty humorous activity, and it's really brought us closer, which has been a lot of fun.

But probably the best part of this has been getting back in the pool.  I spent 6 summers working at the pool. And for many years before that, I remember finishing off each summer night going to the pool with my family.  (Seriously, we would go every single night.  I think our neighbors thought we were crazy.)  I just have always loved the pool, and being in the water.  Ahhh, it's just delightful--the perfect way to end the day.

Kind of a Great Weekend

Last week was beautiful.  Every day, it was so sunny and nice, and I spent the majority of it studying.  So naturally, the weather would change for the weekend, and foil my weekend camping plans.  Kind of a bummer, but the weekend ended up being kind of great regardless.

As I fail at taking pictures, I've taken advantage of Google and facebook.

Read my auditing textbook in preparation for the week.

Visited Herm's Inn for the first time and got to try their Mac & Cheese of the day!

It was kind of a great weekend. 

Live it Up

Last year, today, this was me.

This year, I'm in Logan taking summer classes and working.  It's not nearly as exotic, and definitely doesn't sound as exciting as living in Uganda.  Africa was a whole new world.  I remember being told before I went to write everything down, because soon, the things that seemed so strange and different would become a part of my everyday life.  And it did.

I guess being in Logan this summer (and not traveling abroad as I have been lucky enough to do the past two summers) makes me want to find excitement here.  The zest in life doesn't have to come from exciting trips, or out-of-this-world adventures--it can come from how you view the world.  It's a choice, no matter where you are, you can make the most of life.  

So, I'm wondering, what do I have here, in my daily life, that I take for granted because I am so used to it.  Not just things I am grateful for, but things that are funny, or strange, or exciting, or fun. This summer, I hope that I can open my eyes and my senses to realize just how amazing my life is.  I want to have a passion for life, whether I'm in Logan, or Pleasant Grove, or Uganda.  

Anyways, I tend to set these goals, and then they just become nice thoughts...but I'm going to give it a shot.

Pathetic

So, sadly this is only the second most pathetic thing I have done this week.

The winning for the most pathetic part of my week was when I woke on Saturday with nothing to do.  So I went to work.

Drive

I'm obsessed with driving.  I don't know how long I've been this way, but I love long drives.  Maybe this is weird, but on many occasions, I've found myself wishing a long journey could be even longer.

Some conditions do need to be met...

1.
I need to either have my iPod or another good source of music...
or
Be in a car with one or more person whose company I thoroughly enjoy.
Also, probably no one annoying.

2.
I'd prefer to be in the front seat.  Driving or passenger...it doesn't really matter.
Backseat is acceptable, unless it's the way back of a van.  I don't like being carsick.

3.
I don't handle rapid directions very well.  [aka city driving]
But if I'm on a long stretch of road, I'm in h-e-a-v-e-n.

Honestly though...as long as these conditions are met, driving is like one of my favorite activities.

Alone on a drive, I can turn the music up loud, and sing like I never ever would under any other circumstances.  It's liberating.  If I'm upset, there is nothing as soothing as a long drive.  The twenty minute drive out to Wellsville for work is just lovely, it makes my day.

Also, driving with friends is a great pastime.  Obviously there's the example of road trips, which I've said before--I LOVE.  And then there are just drives around town, just chatting, venting, and reminiscing about life.

Well...

Now I want to go on a drive.  

Cold

So...I don't know if people have noticed, but it is COLD.

When I walked outside today, it felt warmer that it has the last few days.  And what was the temperature?  Oh, 15 degrees.  Yeah, I know, that's really getting up there.

The one thing you can count on people saying about Logan is how freezing it is up here.  Until this year, I really hadn't experienced the frigid place Cache Valley truly is.  Here's how cold we are up here.

When you're outside, all you can talk about is how cold it is.

There were 70 people on the bus today.  That's about 30 less than every other day this week.

When I walked outside today, it felt warmer that it has the last few days.  And what was the temperature?  Oh, 15 degrees.  Yeah, I know, that's really getting up there.

Every blanket I own is on my bed.  I sleep in my sweats.  It is still possible that I might get cold.

My gas tank thing got frozen shut.  A nice man had to come open it with a knife.

I look homeless every day, because I look like I'm wearing every piece of clothing I own.

But...it really is great.  And this'll probably mean once it gets above freezing, we can all break out our shorts and t-shirts!  (People here might be crazy.)

The Crepery

There are so many things that are great about living in Logan, but I'm pretty sure the best thing about Logan is the Crepery.

Ever since I moved up to Logan, I have been obsessed with this place.  I used to be able to justify going frequently, because I wanted to make sure it stayed in businesses.  Then, it got really busy and it would take hours to get your crepe, so that justification went right out the window.

Last year, I went like once a week, and it kind of became a problem...so I had to make rules like I had to earn "crepe dollars" by going to bed on time.  It worked pretty well because I had to get my crepes...obviously.

Happiest!

This summer they moved to a new location, and I was so excited following their updates while I was in Uganda, I just couldn't wait to get back and eat a crepe!  So, I'm like way appalled that I've been up in Logan for about two months now, and I haven't even visited the Crepery once.  

Tonight, Ashley and I finally fixed that problem!  The new location is awesome, there are some sweet chairs!  And the crepes were better than ever.  Let's just say the crepe dollar rule is back in action, because if I don't have at least that restriction, I'm going there every night.  

Looking real ratty, but so great to be back!  And in the most awesome chair!
