I have a great job working as an insurance auditor. However, it's in Wellsville, and the only restaurant within ten minutes of the office is the Burger King. So everyone who works there has adopted the practice of bringing a lunch to work. I make a special effort to cook extra food at dinner time to box up for work the next day.
Since eating is the highlight of life, obviously, it is also the highlight of the work day.
Around noon, people start pulling out their lunches, and the microwave starts buzzing. Soon, the entire small office is filled with the delicious smells of home cooked roast and potatoes, the processed, yet still delicious, scent of steaming hot pockets, the tomatoey aroma of pasta or even worse--pizza. The list goes on and on, and WOW, it smells amazing.
And this is the downside to lunchtime. Unless you're the one lucky enough to have brought the tantalizing treat, all you get is to keep working while someone in the office is eating a delicious meal.
And all you have is a can of green beans.
Okay, kind of a lie. I have brought my fair share of food that smells like heaven on earth. Sorry.
[But on those green bean days, no one should be allowed to cook Papa John's pizza. Also...the guy that never brings lunch...crazy. Even if it's just green beans, you don't know what you're missing by skipping lunchtime.]
